West Kingston, RI, October 4, 2010APC by Schneider Electric, a global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, today announced additions to the APC Essential Series Surge Protectors family, which offer guaranteed lifetime protection from dangerous power transients. All models in this new line provide multi-stage surge protection as well as noise reduction. In addition to proven reliability and safety, various models within the line offer additional features including 10/100 BaseT Ethernet surge protection jacks and USB charger ports to serve the needs of both home and business users.

“Protection from power surges and spikes is essential in maintaining the integrity of both hardware and data. Safeguarding against these surges and spikes is crucial for electronics and computing applications in home and small business settings,” said Dave Johnson, senior vice president, Home & Business Networks, APC. “The Essential Series Surge Protectors are backed by APC’s lifetime warranty with Ethernet surge protection and USB charger ports available on select models.”

APC Essential Series Surge Protectors come in a variety of models, offering four to six outlets with varying cord lengths. The P62, P610 and P6N models offer six power outlets in a corded strip form factor. The P6W, P6WT and P4WUSB models offer six and four power outlets in a wall-tap form factor that helps reduce cord clutter. For customers looking for more specific protection, the P6N model offers Ethernet protection while the P4WUSB offers USB charging ports.

All models feature multi-stage surge protection circuitry which ensures protection that is guaranteed for life. All three power modes (L-N, L-G, N-G) are protected and reliable use of thermal fuses helps to ensure safe operation under all conditions. Each of the Essential Surge models has been tested and approved to work safely with the connected service provider equipment and within the specified environment with UL and FCC approvals. The noise filter reduces Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) to help avoid equipment lock-up. Each of the APC Essential Surge models is equipped with a wiring fault LED which proactively notifies you of potentially dangerous building wiring conditions.

Currently available in North America, the APC Essential Series Surge Protectors carry an estimated retail price of $7.50 to $21.99.  For more information about APC and other money saving home and office solutions, please call 800-877-4080, or visit APC’s Web site at www.apc.com.
