Digital Resources, Inc. was selected by Lee Lewis Construction and the City of Southlake to design and integrate the AV system for the City of Southlake’s new DPS North Training Facility.
The new facility will support Fire and EMS operations in the north side of the City and double as a training facility for both police and fire personnel. It is a one story building that houses multiple training classrooms, auditorium, a fire station, and an indoor firing range.
The AV design in the classroom’s included Panasonic HD projectors and Da-Lite in-ceiling motorized, front projection screens. Each classroom utilizes custom podiums that are equipped with Extron touchscreen control systems, document camera, DVD players and a custom interface for BYOD (Bring your own device) interface. The HD-BaseT infrastructure provides high quality signal and control of the AV devices. The audio system design includes in-ceiling speakers for high quality sound coverage.
The auditorium is designed similarly to the classroom’s, but offers upgrades on the projector and screen. The audio system is expanded for the larger space and maximizes a high quality wireless microphone system. The podium can also be re-located in the space to another floor pocket for maximum configuration of the room. The overall functionality and interfaces of each room is similar for easy operation.
The indoor firing range is designed with specialized LED lighting and sound system allowing recreation of lighting effects and sounds to mimic real world scenarios. A paging system and select microphones were designed throughout the range to allow for critical communication. “The system design for this facility was a good example of how we utilize our experience with implementing critical AV systems,” said Tim Bock, President of Digital Resources.
