Based in the capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam RAI is one of the world’s busiest trade fair and conference centers. Each year, around 1.5 million people attend an event in the 106,500 m² Amsterdam RAI. ISE, for example, Europe’s largest AV event, is one of the highlights on the annual RAI calendar. RAI’s mission? To connect people by bringing them together, both physically and virtually, so that they can inspire, surprise and enrich one another. No wonder then that Amsterdam RAI was enthusiastic when it discovered Barco’s ClickShare meeting room presentation system.

The challenges of BYOD

Over the past few years, RAI noticed that more and more people were bringing their own devices (laptops, tablets or smartphones) to the meetings. While this is a great trend, of course, it is challenging to ensure that everyone can connect to the RAI meeting-room infrastructure. ICT Manager Bret Baas and his team lost a lot of time, in the past, helping people convert the resolution of their device to match the screen, providing adapters, etc. Confident that ClickShare would be a perfect solution to bring people closer together during meetings at its facilities, the congress center installed over 25 ClickShare systems.

Enjoy a cup of coffee

Bret Baas: “I want to work with ClickShare because I want to support people in a simple manner. I want to reduce their stress levels the moment they come in here. They should enjoy a cup of coffee and relax before giving their presentation, instead of stressing about the technological aspects. If RAI can overcome the technology obstacles, people will go home with a good feeling, saying that ‘RAI had organized everything in a perfect way’. Solutions like ClickShare, that help us do that, are definitely worth the investment.”
