Actua Films specializes in supplying television broadcasting and production services.  The Paris studio structure of Actua Films provides an office for permanent correspondents  of large television channels as well as all the services necessary for covering current affairs.

We were seeking a high-end solution to upgrade to HD for our Paris office. Our requirement was to have a broadcast specification PTZ camera with full range control that featured superb on-air smoothness. We didn’t need much in the way of camera moves, but really needed to have fixed quick shots due to live transmission.
Actua spent a considerable amount of time researching various remote cameras including Sony and Panasonic. In testing our options, we found consistent glitches in their robotics. In truth, they were actually too slow for live television. After disappointing trials with both, we decided to go with a Telemetrics solution. In comparison, Telemetrics is one of the easiest and most reliable to use. For Actua, it was the most solid way to work.

We did not commission any system integrators, but instead chose to work directly with Telemetrics for the installation work.  In setting up the system Telemetrics made sure that our cameras were properly mounted and balanced. We have been extremely pleased with support provided from the product engineers and technicians from both the UK and US. Their reaction time to any minor issue is always swift which is essential when installing any new upgrade.

The Telemetrics’ solution is powered by its universally known “Gold-Standard” camera controller, the desktop based RCCP-1 with full CCU camera controls. It incorporated full aspect / convergence shot recall of the cameras from stored pre-sets, including pan, tilt, zoom, focus with CCU scene files - all from a simple one touch LCD screen interface directly on the controller. Cameras included two PT-RE-1 RoboEye high-resolution PTZs mounted to a tripod and one PT-CP-S4 pan-tilt compact head with a Sony HDC-P1 camera and Fujinon lens.

Actua is quite secure and in good hands with Telemetrics.  We were impressed with what they have done and continue to  do from both a product engineering and support perspective.  We look forward to working with Telemetrics in the future.
