BSkyB selects Autoscript prompting tools for Harlequin project
Posted on Monday, October 11, 2010

Autoscript, the world's leading teleprompting company and a Vitec Group brand, announced today that BSkyB has chosen Autoscript to equip all the studios in its new Harlequin 1 building.  Complete prompting systems will be installed, including Autoscript’s LED On-Camera Units and WinPlus software.  In addition, Autoscript is Sky News’ preferred supplier for its new HD studio.

Paul Northam, Harlequin 1 Studios Project Manager, BSkyB, said, “We were particularly impressed with the high quality construction of Autoscript’s on-camera units. They are robust and well engineered, which is important as they will be moved around the studios a lot. We were also pleased with the brightness of the LED TFT units, and the ease of use of the prompting software which will allow us to import and edit scripts very easily.”

In a separate project, Sky News upgraded its studio equipment when it moved to an all-HD studio in May this year, and named Autoscript as its preferred supplier for prompting equipment. The initial purchase includes six camera-mounted units and a further two units for jimmy jibs. A further portable unit will be used for location filming.

Jon Bennett, Head of Studio Output, Sky News, said, “We needed reliable, legible systems which could be used in a brightly-lit studio as well as in natural daylight. Autoscript’s tools fit the bill in every respect.”

Brian Larter, Worldwide Managing Director, Autoscript, said, “Like BSkyB, Autoscript prides itself on constant innovation and ongoing development to provide the best possible products and services. We are proud to have been selected to equip Harlequin 1 and the new Sky News HD studio.”
