ANAHEIM, CALIF. (June 14, 2011) – Premier Mounts, (www.mounts.com) a leading manufacturer of A/V mounts, carts & stands, and accessories, is continuing to release pricing information in InfoComm’s EZip file format for distributing pricing information to its dealers. The EZip electronic price template is the A/V industry-driven standard for product data that helps manufacturers and A/V industry professionals streamline the process of updating and importing product and pricing data into dealer pricing databases.
Integrating product and pricing information into various electronic quoting and design systems has always been a major burden for dealers who often work with dozens of vendors with diverse pricing formats. A pre-defined Excel® template is the base of the format that provides a structured order for essential product information. Manufacturers populate their appropriate data fields and distribute the EZip files to their dealers. Dealer purchasing administrators map the data fields of their electronics quoting software to match the EZip data fields. Many software providers for electronic design and quoting software in the A/V industry already have predefined mapping for EZip data files built into their systems.
An industry standard file format like EZip is a simple solution to make this time consuming and costly chore more efficient and eliminates possible input errors. A/V dealers can collect product and pricing information from multiple vendors, create a single import map, and manage their in-house databases easily.
“We came up with the name EZip when we were working on this project in Infocomm’s Manufacturer’s Council,” said Premier Mounts’ president Lee Dodson. “The EZip name was chosen because it represented “easy import” and was easy to recognize and remember. This was a perfect symbol of what we were trying to achieve with the project.”
The EZip format is now used by dozens of major manufacturers in the A/V industry and more than 150 major A/V System integrators.
