Generating Privacy
The Atlas Sound AA-GPN1200 Masking Generator
PHOENIX, AZ– As shared office spaces and compact working environments become more common, the need for communication privacy is increasingly important. Atlas Sound and the Mitek Electronics and Communications Group address this growing need for sound masking with the new AA-GPN1200 Masking Generator.
Showing for the first time at this year’s InfoComm Expo in Orlando, the AA-GPN1200 is an analog masking signal source and generator. It is capable of producing both white and pink noise for basic masking systems or audio equipment testing. It is designed to help eliminate the auditory distraction associated with open office plan environments as well as providing conversation privacy in facilities such as schools, churches, restaurants, and offices when used with appropriate masking loudspeakers and amplifiers
The AA-GPN1200 features a variable balanced output via Phoenix connector and will deliver a 1V balanced output that will match input circuits of Atlas Sound equalizers and amplifiers. A variable High Cut filter supports basic sound masking equalization with the EQ filter operating between 1kHz and 8kHz with a 6dB/oct slope. This small but effective generator can be used standalone or rack mounted (rack mount kit included), with up to three AA-GPN1200 in a single 1 RU when multiple zones are needed. Controls are rear mounted to help prevent unauthorized adjustments.
“The AA-GPN1200 is a great masking generator that performs to a very high standard. Its analog design eliminates common repeating cycles that competitive digital models have, which can destroy the transparency of a masking system,” said Steve Young, VP of Sales and Marketing for Atlas Sound. “This is a great solution for a basic masking application or it can be paired with the EQM131 when more advanced sound spectrum equalization is required.”
The AA-GPN1200 is just one of the new sound masking products from Atlas Sound at this year’s InfoComm, with new self contained systems and firmware updates also being added to the Atlas speech privacy line. In addition to the increased product offering, Atlas has taken a proactive approach to educating on the proper design and use of sound masking with a recently released book on the subject by industry expert Dr. Robert Chanaud and by teaching an InfoComm Academy course at this year’s conference.
